In 1955, in Miami, Oklahoma, Tandy and Corky Allen started C&T Speed and Custom, shortly after their marriage. A few years later in 1961, they had their first and only child Colby, which led to the hiatus of the speed shop. Leading up from multiple generations of hot-rodding, building, and racing cars, Colby took interest at a young age and kept cars at the top of his list from there on. In 1990 Colby started Allen Sign Studio, and cars had to take the back burner. Colby began working on his own project cars in a back room of the sign shop, and his wife Debbie jokingly referred to that area as "Hot Rod Central." T-shirts were made as a joke, and this went on for years until Colby's youngest son Matthew started to take interest in the idea of starting a business. In 2016 Matthew went to Colby about the idea of making the dream of Hot Rod Central a reality. Colby agreed and made a long list of duties that had to be done before they opened, to see how serious Matthew was. Before they both knew it, Hot Rod Central officially opened in July of 2019.
